Hawgit.com Puts Web Marketing in the Motorcycle Rider's Seat

DENVER, Colo.--Sept. 20, 1999--Hawgit.com has launched the world's first auction marketplace dedicated to the motorcycle enthusiasts.

Motorcycle lovers will now be able to buy or sell bikes, parts, and related items right over the Web. The new site enables users to place items up for auction, post classified ads, or develop their own Web information page to help market their products.

Unlike other large Web auction sites that offer a dizzying array of too much of anything and everything, Hawgit focuses on the motorcycle and its fans. "We wanted to create more than just another auction site," said Joe DesJarlais, president of Hawgit.com. "We'll have the auction and all the other marketing functionality associated with the Web but we really want to generate a sense of community for motorcycle riders all over the country and the world."

Hawgit.com will be offering a wide variety of motorcycle-related products. Whether its motorcycle parts, apparel, equipment, or memorabilia, Hawgit.com plans to have a place for those interested in buying or selling it on their Web site. Hawgit offers small bike shops the opportunity to have their first Web presence. DesJarlais went on to say, "We know there are hundreds of `mom and pop shops' out there that can benefit from having exposure on the Web and Hawgit can help these shops put up a simple Web page that tells the world about their products."

Hawgit also maintains links to various information sources of interest to riders. Links to weather sites, road map sites and motorcycle club sites are just a few of those to be found on their home page. The site will serve as an information nexus for rally's and other motorcycling events around the country and will facilitate communications between interested individuals through the chat rooms they have set up.

Hawgit has partnered with leading web technology and security groups, such as OpenSite Technologies, to ensure a positive, enjoyable, and secure experience on their site. "It is great to be the technology behind this exciting new auction site," said Kip Frey, president and CEO of OpenSite. "We believe that Hawgit.com is taking a route that other leading companies in this market will follow, and OpenSite is doing everything we can to help make that route an easy and successful one."

    More about Hawgit.com

Hawgit.com was founded in April of 1999 in Denver, Colorado. Its simple premise was that the company believed there should be a single-source web site for people with all levels of interest in motorcycles. By offering communications and information; more than just market services such as auction, classifieds, and web pages; Hawgit is becoming a leader in bringing the motorcycle community to the new age of the Internet.
