TRW Presents $7,500 to Queen Creek Middle School at its First Student Assembly of the 1999-2000 School Year

MESA, Ariz.--Aug. 31, 1999--TRW presented $7,500 to Queen Creek Middle School for the purchase of new classroom textbooks. This donation was made possible by TRW Mesa Operations and TRW Foundation, which provides financial support to charitable organizations in TRW plant communities around the country.
Today, Ripley Drury, plant manager of TRW's Driver Side Module Facility in Queen Creek, made the donation to Steve Chambers, principal, and Diane Bronson, advisory council president, at Queen Creek Middle School's first student assembly of the school year.
"TRW has had a longstanding commitment of supporting educational programs and local schools where TRW has operations," said Drury. "We are pleased to provide this donation to the Queen Creek middle school children, who will soon be able to benefit from these new updated classroom textbooks."
TRW also sponsored a poster contest at the school that gave students the opportunity to illustrate how reading will help them achieve their dreams. Winners of the poster contest were presented with first, second and third place ribbons. The teachers of the poster contest winners will receive Teaching Tools gift certificates to purchase additional resources for their classrooms.
"As evident of the $7,500 check, the sponsor of the Reading Poster Contest, and the Space Camp available to two of our students, TRW is a true partner with the education of our students. It's what good neighbors are all about," said Steve Chambers, principal of Queen Creek Middle School.
"This donation demonstrates our commitment to education and children," said DeWayne Pinkstaff, director of operations for Inflatable Restraint and Steering Wheel Systems, North America. "We are pleased to provide these additional teaching tools which will benefit this year's students as well as students for years to come."
