Volvo Cars: For Soccer Moms and Soccer Champions
ROCKLEIGH, N.J., July 22 -- The car company perhaps best
loved by soccer moms also has a fan on the winning American team of the
Women's World Cup.
Brandi Chastain, scorer of the winning goal in the Women's World Cup, told
Entertainment Tonight she would love to get involved with Volvo because of the
company's safety reputation and great-looking new cars. Just a week later,
Brandi, 31, will be taking delivery of the first V40 sportswagon to be sold in
North America.
"As you can tell from looking at our product line, Volvo's appeal has been
greatly expanded to new customer groups," explains Mark LaNeve, Vice President
of Marketing for Volvo Cars of North America. "Brandi is exactly the type of
customer who will be interested in the S40 and V40: active, youthful and
intelligent. The S40 and V40, safely equipped at a starting price of
$22,900 and $23,900 respectively, will attract a new generation of customers
who haven't considered Volvos previously. Soccer players who are on the cover
of every major magazine are obviously a bonus."
