Kia Announces Voluntary Recall For Evaporative Emission System Hoses
IRVINE, Calif., July 15 -- Kia today announced a voluntary
recall of 1996 and selected 1997 Sephia compact sedans to replace evaporative
emission system hoses.
A total of 32,653 Sephias manufactured between July 1, 1995, and Nov. 4,
1996, will be recalled due to premature deterioration of the hoses. If the
hoses are not replaced, it could cause a vehicle to fail a vehicle inspection
or a registration renewal emission test. This is not a safety-related recall.
Sephia owners are being asked by mail to bring their vehicle to a Kia
dealership so that the hoses can be replaced. The one-hour procedure will be
done at no charge.
Kia Motors America is the U.S. sales, marketing and service arm of Kia
Motors Corp. of Seoul, South Korea.
