Local School Bus Drivers Compete for State Title, Co-Sponsored by AAA Michigan
    DEARBORN, Mich., June 21 -- Skilled school bus drivers from
around Michigan will compete for first place in the 22nd annual state School
Bus Driving Championships, co-sponsored by AAA Michigan, this year taking
place in Rockford, north of Grand Rapids, on Wednesday (June 23) at Sheridan
Trails Middle School, 4500 Kroes.
    Driver registration begins at 9 a.m.  The behind-the-wheel portion of the
contest, offering the best camera opportunities, is scheduled to start around
11:15 a.m.  Driving should be completed by 4 p.m. with the winner known
shortly afterwards.  The first-place finisher goes on to compete in the
national championship in Charleston, South Carolina, on July 10-11.
    To reach the school, take U.S. 131 to the 10 Mile Road exit.  At the end
of the exit ramp, turn right and go to the second traffic signal, which will
be Fremont.  Turn right on Fremont and take Fremont to the four-way stop. Turn
right on Kroes.  The school is the second building on the left.
