Norton Motorcycles Changes Stock Symbol; Development Program Moves Ahead
MINNEAPOLIS, June 7 -- The Nasdaq OTC Bulletin Board stock
ticker symbol for Norton Motorcycles, Inc. (Norton) is now NRTN. As expected
the symbol changed from NRTND after a standard waiting period.
Norton also stated that its motorcycle development program is moving
ahead. Motor Cycle News covered the first road tests of the Manx, a
750cc superbike, and of the Nemesis, the flagship Norton model. MCN reported
in its 14 April issue coverage of the Nemesis, "it's here, it's real and we've
ridden it ... No one can deny that Britain has a great superbike waiting in
the wings." Since the initial road tests, Melling Consultancy Design of
Rochdale, England, Norton's engineering and design firm, has continued to test
and refine the high-performance Nemesis and Manx. Norton expects to commence
production of limited quantities of the Nemesis for sale in late 1999.
The Nemesis will be the Company's most powerful, premium motorcycle,
powered by the 1500cc fuel-injected V-8 engine that the Company anticipates
will give the Nemesis a top speed exceeding 225 mph. The V-8 engine, the
first in a production motorcycle, is controlled by a state of the art
electronic engine management system designed to deliver 235bhp for maximum
torque and high speed. The frame of the Nemesis is manufactured from a high
silicone aluminum alloy, while the bodywork will utilize extensive
carbon-fiber composite materials for maximum chassis strength. The Nemesis
also features a custom designed proprietary suspension system.
