GARDEN CITY, N.Y.--May 24, 1999--In an article entitled, "Franchising at its Best," in its current issue, Market Pulse Journal cited Tilden Associates, Inc. (OTC BB:TLDN), which operates under the name Tilden for Brakes Car Care Centers, for their successful franchising policy and over 300% growth in 1998, expanding nationally.
A personal finance magazine, Market Pulse Journal features dynamic and innovative publicly-traded companies.
The profile deals with franchising in a major segment of the automotive industry, the auto repair business. The article points out, "There are over 200 million vehicles on the road over seven years old which need service and maintenance. The demand for quality service is resulting in Tilden's expansion with their Car Care Centers generating significant repeat business from loyal satisfied customers."
The magazine lauds the Tilden franchise system, reporting, "Tilden makes joining the franchise easy, pledging to be with its franchisees every step of the way. It makes available the group's purchasing power, accessing nationally contracted parts suppliers and equipment with cost savings. Each franchisee is awarded an exclusive territory, with Tilden selecting the best high-traffic site available. An extensive 2-week training program is also included.
"Tilden recently began an aggressive national expansion and acquisition program signing an agreement with Frannet, the world's largest group of franchise consultants with the objective of opening Tilden full service centers in every state. The company took over Brake World of Florida with 20 locations in three counties and sold the market development partner rights in Florida to develop 15 more franchisees. In Georgia it acquired American Brake Service with 13 franchised auto repair service centers. It has contracted to develop 10 Tilden Car Care centers in New Jersey
"Funds for future acquisitions and continued growth opportunities were raised in a recent 504 regulation D offering.
"The company announced its first profitable year (since its reincorporation in 1995) with gross earnings of $1,041,534 for 1998 and net income reaching $174,549, versus a loss of $281,994 for the previous year.
"Tilden Associates' stock was selected for a profile by the Internet service Emerging Growth Stock.com as its December stock pick," the article noted.
