Auto Club Gift Memberships Provide Year of Benefits for Grads & Dads; Gift Memberships Now Available Via Internet

    LOS ANGELES--May 19, 1999--Having a hard time thinking of what to get dad or that new grad in the family?
    Gift memberships for the Automobile Club of Southern California provide benefits all year long and can now be purchased via the Internet at www.aaa-calif.com.
    The online gift membership application lets shoppers send the gift acknowledgment and welcome kit to their own address or directly to the recipient. Welcome kits include a temporary membership card, free maps, a guide to member services, an Auto Club decal and a glove compartment organizer. Purchasers of gift memberships get their own gift -- a first aid kit, an emergency survival kit, jumper cables, a smoke detector or a See's(R) Candies certificate.
    In addition to 24-hour-a-day Roadside Assistance, which includes emergency towing, battery jump-starts, flat tire service, lockout assistance and delivery of emergency fuel, AAA membership provides travel, insurance, automotive and financial services. Members also enjoy special prices on Auto Club cellular phone and paging packages, savings on everyday purchases through the Show Your Card & Save(R) program and a subscription to WESTWAYS or SAN DIEGO WESTWAYS magazines.
    Annual membership dues are currently $43 plus a $20 first-year admission fee, for a first-year total of $63. Gift memberships can also be purchased at any of the Auto Club's 70 district offices throughout Southern California.
    The Automobile Club of Southern California, the largest affiliate of the AAA, has been serving members since 1900.
