SmarTire Systems Introduces Tire Monitoring for Recreational Vehicles

RICHMOND, British Columbia--April 6, 1999-- SmarTire Systems Inc. has introduced the new SmarTire RV-433 Tire Monitoring System for recreational vehicles and trailers.
"There are over 12 million recreational vehicles (RVs) in Europe and North America combined. More importantly, this market is highly receptive to tire monitoring," reports Robert Rudman, president and chief executive officer. "We are pleased to offer this new product to the market in time for RV drivers to add another level of safety to their vehicles before taking them on the road for summer holidays."
The new model is an extension of the original SmarTire passenger car tire monitoring system and contains enhanced software to monitor up to six wheel positions and higher load carrying capacity. The SmarTire RV-433 can be installed on either a four or six wheel motorhome or tow vehicle, and on trailers with two, four or six wheel positions.
"In order to meet the needs of the RV market, SmarTire engineers have made significant modifications to our existing passenger car product. These enhancements have extended the radio signal range to accommodate the transmission distance necessary for trailers and RVs. The beauty of the new system is that it is flexible and can be installed on a variety of RVs. For example, a motorhome driver can use two sensors to monitor just the steer axle tires while monitoring all four tires of a trailer being towed. With a SmarTire RV-433, drivers can protect their tires while also protecting valuable trailer cargo such and horses and boats."
In North America, the SmarTire RV-433 and other SmarTire products are available directly from SmarTire by calling 1-877-NOFLATS (663-5287).
SmarTire Systems Inc. develops and markets proprietary tire monitoring systems for the North American and European automotive aftermarkets. Through a strategic alliance, SmarTire and TRW Inc. are committed to providing superior tire monitoring systems for both aftermarket and original equipment applications.
