ROME--(BUSINESS WIRE FEATURES)--March 23, 1999--What would make a week in Italy's finest hotels even better? How about a Ferrari to drive through the hills and villages of Tuscany and along the Italian coastline? Well, put on your driving gloves.
This exclusive week-long package begins in Rome, where you'll stay at the historic La Posta Vecchia in the seaside resort of Ladispoli. This villa hotel has been restored and furnished with art and antiques by John Paul Getty. From this luxurious base, you may drive your choice of Ferraris (1995 348TS, 1995 348MT or a 1999 355) to explore the sights of Rome and surrounding countryside.
After two nights in Rome, you'll drive to Florence, stopping along the route to visit the medieval towns of Assisi and Perugia and the ancient Roman and Etruscan cities of Terni, Spoleto and Arezzo. Your destination is Fiesole, a former Etruscan village overlooking Florence, and the historic hotel Villa San Michele, which has a facade designed by Michelangelo. During your two-night stay here, you may explore Florence and Tuscany, including the Chianti Wine District.
Following two nights in Florence, you'll drive to the seaside resort town Porto Ercole. On the way, visit the Tuscan hill town of San Gimignano, declared a national monument in 1928, and Siena, with its rich history and exquisite architecture. Your hotel in Porto Ercole is the luxurious Hotel Il Pelicano, where you will stay for two nights before returning home via Rome.
Priced at $8,065 per person based on double occupancy, the week-long package includes use of your choice of Ferraris, two nights deluxe accommodations at each hotel, breakfast daily, a two-hour massage and one dinner at La Posta Vecchia, lunch or dinner each day at Villa San Michele, and a detailed daily itinerary, driving directions, maps and sightseeing suggestions. If a Mercedes-Benz 200 Automatic is preferred, the cost for the package is reduced to $4,225 per person.
