Light Trucks Comprise Nearly 40% of Vehicles on U.S. Roads, Reports Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association
    RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., March 12 -- Light trucks --
defined as vans, sport utility vehicles (SUV), and light trucks -- comprised
38% of vehicles on U.S. roads in 1997, according to Automotive Industry Status
Report -- a comprehensive report produced by the Motor & Equipment
Manufacturers Association (MEMA).
