Isuzu Reports Best Year Ever for Commercial Vehicle Retail Sales

    WHITTIER, Calif.--(AutomotiveWire)--Jan. 5, 1999--American Isuzu Motors Inc. (AIMI) reported its best commercial vehicle retail sales year ever with a total of 16,625 units posted, a 28 percent increase over 1997's record sales.
    The dramatic sales increase follows several innovative customer- service programs and can be attributed to these factors:
    -- stronger products with increased horsepower and GVW ratings;
    -- the close partnership between AIMI and its dealers;
    -- continued strong fleet sales; and
    -- newly implemented incentive programs such as the Isuzu Truck Owner Protection Program and the Isuzu Gold Star Certified Truck Program.
    In addition to these new benefits, Isuzu continues to offer its 24-hour-roadside-assistance program and customer-service hotline.
    "We can help Isuzu truck owners save in operating and maintenance costs," said Jim Underwood, senior vice president, chief operating officer, commercial vehicle.
    "Since we view our relationship with our customers as a partnership, we want to see their businesses thrive. And our job is to provide them with vehicles that fit their needs. I think their confidence with Isuzu shows in our high sales numbers."
    Isuzu trucks have been the top-selling low cab forward commercial vehicles in the United States for 12 consecutive years.
