Car and Driver Takes Its Show on the Road; Starts New Year on TNN Network TelevisionANN ARBOR, Mich., Dec. 28 -- Car and Driver magazine, the ultimate authority on all things automotive, speeds onto cable TV Jan. 2, 1999, with an unparalleled mix of technical expertise and driving excitement. The format of Car and Driver Television is geared toward car enthusiasts, and closely follows content of the best-selling magazine. David Pecker, president and CEO of Hachette Filipacchi Magazines, Car and Driver's publisher, said each of the multi-segmented, half-hour shows, produced primarily in Nashville by RTM Productions, Inc., will air three times every weekend: Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. and 2 a.m. Eastern Time. January's lineup will focus on the esteemed annual 10Best Awards, the ultimate achievement for any automobile. Csaba Csere (pronounced "Chubba Chedda"), Car and Driver's editor-in- chief, and his staff will work to transfer their candid approach from print to screen. "Communicating the excitement of being behind the wheel of a luxury sedan, or a steal-your-breath sports car appeals to the visual perspective. We are thrilled to be able to establish such contact with television viewers," said Csere. On Jan. 2-3, Csere and his Car and Driver Television staff provide an inside look at the judging process of 10Best and present a test drive of the new Isuzu sport utility VehiCROSS. On Jan. 9-10, Car and Driver Television takes a peek at the first of the 10Best awards including the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, and Lexus GS 300/400. The episode also features a Classic Car and Driver look back at the powerful Corvette, and the latest concept vehicles from the SEMA show in Las Vegas. On Jan. 16-17, Car and Driver Television focuses on the Honda Accord, Porsche Boxster and the Chevrolet Corvette -- all 10Best winners, and the first test drive of the all new 1999 Grand Cherokee. The final four of the 10Best awards are shown Jan. 23-24, along with an exclusive test drive of the 360 horsepower Ford Lightning. The first month rounds out with at look at the 1999 Prowler and a heated comparison of the Isuzu Rodeo and Mitsubishi Montero Sport.
