ADVISORY/Celebrate the Holiday Season at a "Sober Social Hour" for the Media; AAA Offers Alcohol-Free Drink Recipes and Samples for Safe Holiday Sipping

    --

WHEN: Tuesday, Dec. 22
    4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

WHAT: Providing guests with enticing alcohol-free cocktails will
keep the party hopping while ensuring designated drivers
remain safe and sober for the eventual drive home. AAA, the
Hard Rock Cafe and RADD (Recording Artists, Actors & Athletes
Against Drunk Driving) have teamed up to produce 15
mouth-watering recipes to keep guests' glasses filled with
    tasty treats.

To help hosts and their guests get into the holiday spirit,
the "Sober Social Hour" will offer samples of the Winter
Wassail, Chocolate Cappuccino Chill, and Black Cherry
Champagne. The AAA Cheers! Campaign is designed to help
reduce alcohol-related deaths and injuries by encouraging
party hosts to offer alcohol-free beverages to party guests
    and designated drivers.

WHO: Two-time Emmy award-winning actress Kay Lenz from RADD will
appear along with safety experts from AAA, and bartenders
from the Hard Rock Cafe to talk about the alcohol-free drink
recipes, and the dangers of drinking and driving. The
bartenders will demonstrate how to blend alcohol-free
cocktails from the Cheers! recipe book and serve up samples
to reporters and other party-goers. Free books will be
available at the party as well as all AAA offices.

WHERE: Hard Rock Cafe
1699 Van Ness Avenue (at Sacramento Street)
    San Francisco, CA

WHY: Last year, 1,100 people in California were killed and more
than 31,000 people were injured in alcohol-related traffic
crashes. The holiday season is filled with festivities and
celebrations and hosts often provide party-goers with
alcoholic beverages to quench their thirsts. By offering
hosts ideas and recipes for alcohol-free beverages, AAA hopes
to reduce alcohol-related deaths and injuries.
