SMC Corporation Appoints New Chief Financial Officer
    HARRISBURG, Ore., Dec. 1 -- SMC Corporation
today announced the appointment of William L. Rich to the position of Chief
Financial Officer (CFO).
    Most recently Mr. Rich served as Vice President of Finance and
Administration to Marus Dental International, a subsidiary of Henry Schein,
Inc. the world's largest direct marketer of healthcare supplies to
office-based practitioners with 1997 sales of $1.5 billion.  Prior to that
Mr. Rich held the position of Controller at Meridian Medical Technologies and
earlier, Corporate Controller at CPC-Rexcel, Inc.  Mr. Rich, a CPA and CMA,
graduated from Miami University (Ohio) and earned his MBA from the University
of North Texas.
