WHAT: The Salvation Army and the Greek Orthodox Church will now
be able to serve 2,700 more Thanksgiving turkey meals, thanks
to a donation by AAA. A convoy, led by a tow-truck, will
deliver frozen turkeys to the two charities. The turkeys will
be prepared into meals that will be served to Salt Lake City's
needy residents on Thanksgiving Day.
WHY: AAA is delivering nearly 21,000 Thanksgiving turkey meals to
11 charities in Utah, Nevada, and Northern California,
expecting to meet the entire turkey needs of each charity for
the holiday. The Thanksgiving turkey delivery project, now in
its second year, is part of AAA's Road to Caring Program, an
on-going campaign to meet the needs of the communities it
serves.
