The San Francisco SPCA and AAA Team Up

Happy Tails and Happy Trails; The San Francisco SPCA and AAA Team Up to Promote Safe Pet Travel

SAN FRANCISCO--Aug. 31, 1998--Traveling with pets requires extra care to keep them safe and comfortable, but bringing them along can enhance a trip.
"For most of us, our pets are like family members and we like to have them with us," says Lynn Spivak, public information director for the San Francisco SPCA. "But before we pack the pooch we have to make sure the trip includes activities that will be fun for the pet."
"There are 10,000 AAA-approved, pet-friendly accommodations in America and Canada," says AAA spokeswoman Bronwyn Hogan. "With proper preparation, the extra family member can share your vacation bliss, rather than miss you while in a kennel."
AAA's PetBook lists those pet-friendly accommodations and provides tips on traveling with your cat or dog, be it a short drive across town or an extended vacation.
The next 500 people adopting a cat or dog from the San Francisco SPCA will receive a free copy of AAA's North American PetBook. AAA has donated the books for the campaign.
Anyone not adopting but wishing to buy a book may purchase it by mail by sending a check or money order payable to CSAA to: AAA PetBook, 455 Hickey Blvd., Daly City, CA 94015. The cost is $8 for AAA members (who must include their AAA membership number for a discount) and $12 for non-members. Tax and shipping is included (allow 10 days for delivery). For more information, call: (800) 903-AAA7.
