ADVISORY/Shock therapy for Southern California Car Thieves New device puts the brakes on Car Theft With 50,000 Volts of Electricity; "Not-So-Hands-On" Media Day Set for Tuesday, July 21

WHAT:  It sparks. It sizzles. It has a vengeance for car thieves. It's
       the new Auto Taser! As the first and only technology device 
       of its kind, the Auto Taser packs a non-lethal 50,000-voltage 
       punch to offenders. The Auto Taser functions as a steering 
       wheel lock and is armed with a remote control. When a thief 
       enters the car and attempts to touch the steering wheel or grab 
       the Auto Taser, the unit sets of a 130-decibel siren. Five 
       seconds later, the entire unit is electrified with non-lethal
       TASER(R) technology.

       Southern California media are invited to a Media Day for a 
       "live" demonstration of the Auto Taser -- the first time the 
       local media will be able to witness the security device in 
       action.

WHY:   According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau,
       Los Angeles-Long Beach rank in the top ten (no. 7) metropolitan
       areas with the highest vehicle theft.
