Best-Ever May Sales Reported by Toyota's Kansas City Region

    KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 4 -- Toyota's Kansas City Region
posted the best car sales in May.
    New car sales at 74 Toyota dealers in Iowa, Kansas, South and North
Dakota, Missouri and Nebraska totaled 2,673, a 24 percent increase over last
year's 2,163 sales.
    "Our North American-built vehicles, Corolla, Camry and Sienna van, as well
as the Toyota Land Cruiser, all contributed to a record setting sales month
for 1998," said Bruce Ertmann, general manager of the Kansas City Region.
"Corolla had an impressive 70 percent sales gain and Camry continues its
momentum with 1,285 sales, a 21 percent increase.  A strong economy and
consumer confidence enabled our dealers to mirror the entire Toyota Division
by recording its best-ever May sales in its 41-year history."
