AAA Michigan Begins Mailing MCCA Refund ChecksDEARBORN, Mich., June 2 -- AAA Michigan announced today it will begin mailing checks tomorrow, June 3, 1998, to its approximately 1.25 million auto insurance policyholders to refund premiums that were paid to the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (MCCA). The company said it received its share of the MCCA refund money today, and will begin printing refund checks for AAA Michigan policyholders tomorrow morning. The first checks should begin arriving in policyholders' mailboxes by the end of this week, the company said, and all policyholders should receive their checks by the end of June. In line with a ruling in April by the Michigan Insurance Bureau, checks will be issued to policyholders of record, March 18, 1998, the date of the premium-refund decision by the MCCA. That ruling provides that the MCCA refund be given to policyholders directly and promptly in the amount of $180 per vehicle.
