Mitsubishi Motors Earns Coveted `Silver Pencil' Award for Banner Ads at First Annual One Show Interactive Awards

Winning Banners Promote Mitsubishi Motors' Web Site and '98 Vehicles

CYPRESS, Calif., May 11 -- Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America,
Inc. (MMSA) was among the big corporate winners at this year's first annual
One Show Interactive, the advertising industry's most prestigious awards
program to promote high standards of creative excellence in the field of new
media, held last month in New York. MMSA earned a silver pencil award for its
interactive banner ads promoting the company's web site and its vehicles. The
Mitsubishi Motors ads were produced by CKS Partners of Portland, Ore., and
provide instant links to the Mitsubishi Motors web site (http://www.mitsucars.com)
from such sites as Car and Driver, Motor Trend, MSN, Netscape, Money, Fortune,
MSNBC and USA Today.
Mitsubishi Motors' winning banner ads leveraged the theme of its national
ad campaign reflecting the company's image of making spirited cars for
spirited people and can be viewed on the internet at
http://pdx.cks.com/ad_tech. All entries for One Show were judged on a
combination of concept, graphic design and information architecture, while
being recognized for the importance of creative advertising on the internet.
According to Traute Winters, manager corporate and interactive marketing for
MMSA, this award only highlights the expanding success that the company has
seen in its web site. "We've worked really hard to offer consumers a site
that is not only informative, but represents who we are as a company in a way
that entices the viewer to test drive our products," said Winters. "Our web
site is intended for consumers to have the most visually appealing means of
getting to know every aspect of our products, while providing an expanded
comfort level before ever stepping into our dealerships."
With interactive features that include a 360 degree view of each vehicle,
including inside and outside visuals, consumers can change the car color, see
video of each vehicle and utilize an extensive product build and price area.
Winters says that the easy-to-use and objective format provides an abundance
of visuals, including a product oriented screensaver which can be downloaded
into a viewer's home computer.
One Show Interactive was created by The One Club for Art & Copy, based in
New York City. Founded in 1975, it is a not-for-profit organization designed
to maintain the highest standards of creativity in advertising. Its 900
members include many of advertising's most respected art directors and
copywriters, as well as students of advertising. The One Club sponsors
lectures, seminars, exhibitions and scholarships, and publishes "one," a
quarterly magazine for the creative community.
Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. was established in 1982 by
Mitsbushi Motors Corporation, Tokyo, and markets a full line of vehicles,
including coupes, convertibles, sedans and sport utility vehicles.
