Orchard Lake Couple Bids $65,000 for First Yellow Plymouth Prowler Delivered in Michigan
Children's Leukemia Foundation of Michigan Receives $6,500
                       From Clarkston Chrysler-Plymouth

CLARKSTON, Mich., May 7 -- An Orchard Lake couple outbid a
packed Clarkston Chrysler-Plymouth Superstore to buy the very first yellow
Plymouth Prowler delivered in Michigan.
The Children's Leukemia Foundation of Michigan received $6,500 from the
sale price of the 1999 Prowler, which was sold at an open auction Wednesday
evening.
"I never thought that ours would be the bid to win the car, but we were
very happy to participate knowing a portion would be given to the Children's
Leukemia Foundation of Michigan," said Betsy Eaton of the winning couple. "It
made it all worth while."
    The Prowler, Plymouth's high-tech interpretation of a 1950s hot rod, is a
perfect summer ride. This one is just the 21st yellow Prowler built and the
first retail delivery in Michigan.
The Prowler has retrospective styling and features a modern 24-valve,
fuel-injected V-6 engine, an "auto-stick" transmission for both automatic and
manual shifting, fully independent suspension and an airbag supplemental
restraint system.
The first limited edition Prowlers offered for sale in the fall of 1997
were purple. List price of the car is about $45,000, but Clarkston
Chrysler-Plymouth Superstore owner Chuck Fortinberry knew the new yellow color
and the charity benefit auction would attract bidders.
"My father died of leukemia in 1993," Fortinberry said. "The Children's
Leukemia Foundation of Michigan is a charity that holds a special place in my
heart, and I am very happy to be able to help its work."
"We are thrilled that Chuck has chosen the Children's Leukemia Foundation
of Michigan to benefit from this exciting event," said Glenn Trevisan,
Foundation Executive Director.
"Chuck has been a valuable supporter and brings a special understanding of
the work we do, having lost his father to leukemia. Of course, the proceeds we
receive will help us continue our work to help families get through traumatic
and difficult times in their lives as they battle the disease," Trevisan said.
