UAW's Yokich and Laskowski React to Chrysler-Daimler-Benz Reports

DETROIT, May 6 -- The UAW is monitoring closely the media
reports of a "business combination" between Chrysler and
Daimler-Benz .
"Naturally, we are paying close attention to the impact on our members of
any new business relationship between Chrysler and Daimler-Benz," said UAW
President Stephen P. Yokich.
"Our members at Chrysler have made extraordinary contributions to
Chrysler's success over the years," Yokich added, "and we have every right and
every intention of protecting their interests in the event that Chrysler
undergoes any structural change."
"We will aggressively pursue detailed information about this possible
alliance," UAW Vice President Jack Laskowski, Director of the Union's Chrysler
Department, said, "but until we know more, it would not be appropriate to
comment further."
