BMW 7 Series Achieves Highest Score in Strategic Vision Total Quality Index(TM)

Also Tops Luxury Car Segment for Second Straight Year

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., May 4 -- For the second year in a row,
the BMW 7 Series model line has achieved customer satisfaction accolades from
Strategic Vision, who announced today, the results of their 1998 Total Quality
Index(TM). BMW's 7 Series sedans finished first in the Luxury Car segment and
achieved the highest score of any vehicle ever rated in the survey.
"We're particularly gratified by the results of this survey," said BMW of
North America president Victor Doolan. "The Total Quality Index(TM) is more
than a measurement of defects in an automobile. It takes into account the
total ownership experience -- the enjoyment of driving the vehicle, the
purchase or leasing experience and the emotional aspects of the car/driver
relationship. With so many good cars to choose from, the fact that the
7 Series has achieved this honor two years in a row, tells us that both the
vehicle and our retailers are exceeding our customers' expectations."
In summing up the results of the survey, Strategic Vision commented on the
7 Series, "This is as good as it gets. For the second year, this 'king of
vehicles' earned the highest score on the Total Quality Index(TM). Delivering
the highest levels of safety, ride, craftsmanship and roadability, it gives
owners a strong sense of security and esteem."
BMW 7 Series models include the 740i and long-wheelbase 740iL, both
powered by a 4.4-liter, aluminum block V-8 engine and the long-wheelbase
75OiL, powered by a 5.4-liter, aluminum block V-12.
