Clarkston Chrysler-Plymouth to Auction First Yellow Prowler

Children's Leukemia Foundation of Michigan to Share Benefit Proceeds

CLARKST0N, Mich., April 29 -- The very first yellow Plymouth
Prowler in Michigan will be auctioned by Clarkston Chrysler-Plymouth &
Jeep-Eagle on Wednesday, May 6, 1998.
The Children's Leukemia Foundation of Michigan will receive 10 percent of
the sale price of the Prowler, Plymouth's high-tech interpretation of a 1950s
hot rod.
"The auction is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.," said Chuck Fortinberry,
Clarkston Chrysler-Plymouth & Jeep-Eagle President and Owner. "We encourage
prospective bidders to preregister by calling us at 248-625-2635."
The two-seat roadster is just the 21st bright yellow Prowler built.
Fortinberry says that he has a list of 12 to 15 serious buyers for the car and
another 15 people who have expressed an interest in it.
The first limited edition Prowlers offered for sale in the fall of 1997
were purple.
Although its styling is 1930s inspired, the Prowler features a modern
24-valve, fuel-injected V-6 engine, an "auto-stick" transmission for both
automatic and manual shifting, fully independent suspension and an airbag
supplemental restraint system. List price of the car is approximately
$45,000, but Fortinberry has received offers of up to $65,000. He hopes for
an even higher auction sale price.
"My father died of leukemia in 1993," Fortinberry said. "The Children's
Leukemia Foundation of Michigan is a charity that holds a special place in my
heart, and I am very happy to be able to help its work."
"We are thrilled that Chuck has chosen the Children's Leukemia Foundation
of Michigan to benefit from this exciting opportunity," said Glenn Trevisan,
Foundation Executive Director.
"Chuck has been a valuable supporter and brings a special understanding of
the work we do, having lost his father to leukemia. Of course, the proceeds
we receive will help us continue our work to help families get through
traumatic and difficult times in their lives as they battle the disease,"
Trevisan said.
Clarkston Chrysler-Plymouth & Jeep-Eagle will serve refreshments during
the auction, and Fortinberry is expecting Chrysler-Plymouth executives, local
government officials and Children's Leukemia Foundation representatives in
attendance.
