Range Rover: Automobile Magazine Readers' Choice All-StarChosen the World's Finest Sport-Utility Vehicle by Discerning Audience LANHAM, Md., April 9 -- The ultimate authorities -- the avid enthusiasts who read Automobile Magazine each month -- have elevated the world-renowned Range Rover 4.0 SE and 4.6 HSE to All-Star status. In the May issue of Automobile Magazine, Range Rover is bestowed with the Readers' Choice All-Star Award in the large sport-utility category. Charles R. Hughes, President, Land Rover North America, Inc., said, "This is a supreme honor. For Range Rover 4.0 SE and 4.6 HSE to be designated an Automobile Magazine Readers' Choice All-Star confirms once again that Range Rover's legendary reputation is well deserved. In testament to that reputation, Range Rover has just had its most successful ever first quarter. Further, it reflects Land Rover North America's commitment to our owners to provide the finest ownership experience possible." Range Rover, considered by many to be the world's first luxury sport-utility vehicle, was introduced April 30, 1970 at the Amsterdam Motor Show and has become the most advanced and prestigious 4x4 in the world. It uniquely combines Land Rover's legendary off-road ability and the performance and feel of a fine European sedan. The 4.6 HSE is more performance oriented and features a 225 horsepower V8 engine, while the 4.O SE features a more fuel efficient 190 horsepower V8 engine. Standard equipment includes permanent four-wheel drive, four-channel anti-lock brakes, a center viscous coupling, electronic traction control and Range Rover's unique and exclusive electronic air suspension that allows the vehicle to ride on a cushion of air. The system has four air spring bladders, one on each corner that inflate and provide 5.2 inches of height adjustment over five settings. With a leather filled interior and numerous comfort features, Range Rover is the leader in the luxury sport-utility segment. The entire Land Rover experience begins in one of the company's 114 retail outlets, 65 of which now are Land Rover Centres. From assistance given by a highly trained four-wheel drive specialist to a Royal Welcome delivery, followed by service performed by expert technicians, a Range Rover owner is assured of a professional and enjoyable relationship. The ownership experience is further enhanced by off-road adventures ranging from one- to three-day adventures off road by Land Rover retailers as well as opportunities to enjoy events ranging from sporting clays tournaments to equestrian shows. And, this summer, Land Rover owners have been invited to The Land Rover Lodge, located in southwest Colorado, to help Land Rover celebrate its 50th Anniversary. David E. Davis, Jr., Editor and Publication Director of Automobile Magazine, announced the award today in a press conference at the New York Auto Show. Land Rover North America, Inc. is a member of the Rover Group of Companies, importing vehicles manufactured by Land Rover, Solihull, England.
