Audi Records Best March Sales and Best First Quarter Performance Since 1986

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 2 -- Audi of America, Inc.
reported U.S. sales of 3,352 for the month of March, representing a 17.1
percent increase over the same month last year when sales were 2,863.
    That made it Audi's best March since 1986.  This month's results are
attributable to strong consumer demand on products throughout Audi's model
range.  Audi has demonstrated this kind of year-over-previous-year sales
increase for 38 of the last 40 months.
    So far in 1998, Audi has sold 8,842 automobiles representing a 14.6
percent increase over the same period last year when the total was 7,715.
This month's sales results mark Audi's best first quarter performance since
1986.
