SPX First to Receive Virginia Certification for Emissions Analyzer System

    KALAMAZOO, Mich., March 12 -- SPX Corporation
today announced it is the first manufacturer to receive certification from the
State of Virginia for the SPX Northern Virginia Emissions Analyzer System.
    SPX's approved system carries the Allen Testproducts and Bear brands, and
includes a 5-Gas Emissions Analyzer platform, operating software and a choice
of two Clayton dynamometers.  This Emissions System is fully certified by the
California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR).
    The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality issued the Certification
which states that approval is based on "company documentation, the results of
the NVAS Acceptance Test Procedures conducted by an independent third party,
and DEQ 'Beta' Testing performed at the DEQ in Woodbridge, Virginia referee
station."
