Delco Remy International, Inc., Acquires a LucasVarity Remanufacturing Operation and Atlantic Reman Ltd

    ANDERSON, Ind., March 5 -- The following revised release was
issued today by Delco Remy International, Inc.:

    Delco Remy International, Inc., Acquires a LucasVarity Remanufacturing
                      Operation and Atlantic Reman Ltd.

    Delco Remy International, Inc., announced today the acquisitions of a
LucasVarity remanufacturing operation in England and Atlantic Reman Limited of
Canada.
    LucasVarity Aftermarket Operations is a division of LucasVarity plc, the
leading supplier of remanufactured starters and alternators to the UK
independent aftermarket.
    Thomas J. Snyder, President and Chief Operating Officer, stated, "The
acquisitions of the Lucas remanufactured rotating electrical operations and
Atlantic are key to Delco Remy's growth strategy.  The LucasVarity
remanufacturing operations provides us with our first aftermarket opportunity
in Europe and, with the acquisition of Atlantic, we are now a Ford Authorized
Remanufacturer in six of the seven Canadian Provinces."
