SAE Congress Exposition Called Outstanding Success

DETROIT, Feb. 26 -- SAE '98 Congress, by all accounts, has
been an outstanding success, according to informal exhibitor surveys and
attendee responses.
The largest technical conference and exposition of its kind ended today
after a four-day run.
"This was the smoothest move-in and operation of a show we've ever had,"
said Patrick Catini, show manager. "Exhibitors have told us they are pleased
with the results, which is outstanding."
"SAE affords the opportunity to build relationships and give worldwide
exposure to the wide range of products Thyssen and The Budd Company offer,"
said Paul Flancbaum, Manager, Communications, The Budd Co.
"SAE Congress is number one in the world," said Brita Koster, GNK
Automotive AG, "SAE gives you 50,000 engineers to see your products."
"The show this year was the most international. I saw people from Japan,
China, Korea, France, Italy ... and that's a good thing for our company."
SAE '98 had 1,200 exhibiting companies and 350,000 square feet of exhibit
space. This is an increase of 14% in space and a 33% increase in the number
of exhibits.
The popularity of the SAE show is also reflected in the waiting list for
booth space. Even though the exposition expanded this year, there was still a
waiting list of more than 100 companies.
Plans are already underway for SAE '99, which will be held March 1-4 in
Cobo Center. For information on SAE Congress, call 724-772-7131; fax
