Chrysler Reaffirms Its Participation In The National Low Emission Vehicle Program

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Feb. 4 -- Chrysler today
reaffirmed it will provide cars and trucks that are 70 percent cleaner than
today's vehicles as part of the national low emissions program (NLEV),
beginning in the 1999 model year.
"With this historic commitment, our vehicles will be 99 percent emissions-
free," said Robert J. Eaton, Chairman and CEO of Chrysler. "We're
disappointed that Maine, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont chose not to
participate in the NLEV Program, but we are dedicated to further cleaning the
air, not only in the Northeast, but throughout the entire United States."
