Chrysler Introduces 1999 LHS at the North American International Auto ShowAUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 5 -- The all-new 1999 Chrysler LHS builds on the brand's rich heritage of design leadership and engineering excellence, and at the same time represents yet another concept-to-reality success story for Chrysler . The all-new Chrysler LHS emulates the fine craftsmanship of classic automobiles of the past while offering a blend of performance and agile handling that is certain to attract a new generation of buyer, said Robert J. Eaton, Chairman, Chrysler Corporation. The 1999 Chrysler LHS is designed for those who want an American automobile that makes a statement with its sophisticated styling, yet has the handling characteristics of a touring sedan. LHS offers its owners a spacious interior filled with premium features. The 1999 Chrysler LHS offers buyers the highest level of luxury with a design that is even more graceful and elegant than the previous LHS, said Martin R. Levine, General Manager, Chrysler/Plymouth/Jeep(R) Division. It also builds on Chrysler's heritage of innovative engineering by offering even better overall performance and handling. Equipped with a new, all-aluminum high-output 3.5-liter engine and touring suspension, the 1999 Chrysler LHS offers both increased performance and fuel efficiency. An impressive list of standard features include world-class quad projector headlamps for a unique look both day and night, leather trimmed seats with four-way multi-adjustable front headrests, a trunk pass-through in the rear seat, and unique electroluminescent analog gauges. The original Chrysler LHS, introduced for the 1994 model year, played an instrumental role in redefining the Chrysler brand and providing a premium entry in the full-size sedan segment. The 1999 Chrysler LHS accelerates this momentum with its stunning yet elegant design both inside and out, first explored on the 1996 Chrysler LHX concept car. Just as the Chrysler Sebring Coupe, Sebring Convertible and Town & Country minivan have done, the 1999 Chrysler LHS achieves the best blend of providing performance, comfort and advanced engineering all in a distinctive exterior design. Combine the Chrysler brand vehicle line-up and you will see we offer a premium entry in almost every segment, including convertibles, minivans and sedans, said Levine. With each new product, we've been able to expand the appeal of the Chrysler brand to a new buyer who is younger and more affluent. The all-new Chrysler LHS continues that trend by adding even more appeal. SOURCE Chrysler Corporation
