Gentex Honored for Quality By Chrysler

    ZEELAND, Mich., Dec. 19 -- For the fourth year in a row,
Gentex Corporation , the world-leading supplier of automatic-
dimming mirrors to the auto industry, has received Chrysler Corporation's
Platinum Pentastar Award for supplier quality excellence and overall
corporate achievement.
    The Platinum Pentastar is Chrysler's highest supplier quality award.  It's
given for outstanding overall performance in the areas of cost reduction,
quality, delivery, price, technology and customer satisfaction.  Gentex has
received the award each year since 1994.
    "This recognition is once again a great honor," said Gentex Chairman Fred
Bauer.  "We consider it our job to bring added value to Chrysler cars and
trucks not only through our product, but also the way we do business."
    Thomas T. Stallkamp, Chrysler executive vice president of procurement &
supply, said, "The suppliers honored have more than awards -- they also have
our respect.  They've demonstrated that they are willing to work with us to
try and change the way we do business in the United States."
