CARiN Vehicle Navigation System Available For Test Drive at L.A. Auto Show

Philips Car Systems' CARiN Vehicle Navigation Available For Test Drives During Greater Los Angeles Auto Show

    LOS ANGELES, Dec. 19 -- Journalists wishing to experience the
latest in vehicle navigation for the aftermarket will have that opportunity
when the technology comes to the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show, Jan. 2-11.
    Through the courtesy of Philips Car Systems, several CARiN interactive
vehicle navigation systems will be installed and on display in specially
"transformed" vehicles at Becker Automotive Design Booth No. K700 in Kentia
Hall in the Los Angeles Convention Center.  Moreover, a 1998 Mazda 626 will be
similarly equipped and available for demonstration rides for the duration of
the show.
    CARiN, now available nationwide for aftermarket installation, expands
consumer access to digital vehicle navigation technology previously available
only through luxury automobile accessory packages.  The system includes
navigation computer, LCD monitor, remote control, and installation components,
and it is available through Circuit City Stores.  CARiN retails for $2,399
complete with installation and CD-ROM mapping.
