Volkswagen Donates Car for Raffle to Benefit Detroit Institute for ChildrenAUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 17 -- Volkswagen of America, Inc. is pleased to donate a 1998 New Beetle for raffle. The drawing for the New Beetle will be conducted from the Volkswagen Beetle Hall at the North American International Auto Show's Charity Preview on January 9, 1998 at 8 p.m., where it will make its worldwide debut. The raffle benefits The Detroit Institute for Children, a non-profit outpatient facility dedicated to caring for children with disabilities. The Institute is one of ten charities receiving proceeds from the Charity Preview for the North American International Auto Show. Set to arrive this spring at Volkswagen dealerships across North America, the New Beetle proves that something very good in a past life can come back as something even better, something totally new. While it rekindles the magic of its legendary namesake, the New Beetle is not an update of the original but a completely new and modern car -- a Beetle driving forward into the 2lst century, inviting us optimistically to follow.
