Ergenics Announces Life of The Vehicle Fuel Cell/Battery System For Hybrid Electric Cars

    RINGWOOD, N.J., Nov. 20 -- Toyota's recent announcement
introducing the world's first production gasoline/electric powered hybrid cars
is the leading edge of the swiftly coming shift away from the world's reliance
on big internal combustion engines. Caught flat-footed by the Japanese
automobile producer, U.S. and European competitors responded by making
announcements dealing with potential new technology which is many years away
and unproven.
In sharp contrast, New Jersey based Ergenics' revolutionary Hy-Stor(R)
energy storage technology is ready to go into production now and meets the
future goals of the U.S. government's auto industry partnerships (United
States Advanced Battery Consortium and the Partnership for a New Generation of
Vehicles). Hy-Stor offers a regenerative fuel cell/battery hybrid technology
of novel and patented design which needs no external source of hydrogen nor
additional processing. There is no need to build a mobile refinery under the
hood of every car to produce hydrogen from gasoline or methanol -- as in the
case with the above mentioned expensive, elaborate and ultimately unrealistic
approaches being touted, because Hy-Stor saves, and returns for reuse through
its closed-loop, the hydrogen used by its power production section. The
hydrogen is stored in metal particles that release it in a safe, controllable
manner as needed. It is, in fact, much safer than gasoline.
Hy-Stor technology is a life of the vehicle power system, allowing
hundreds of thousands of cycles, thus eliminating the costly replacement of
batteries that others are struggling to develop. Unlike the warmed-over fuel
cell systems, there are no pollutants, due to the Hy-Stor closed-loop system.
Hy-Stor represents a compatible replacement for the nickel-metal hydride
systems, such as the Toyota battery, with the very high power and cycle life
needed for accelerating hundreds of thousands of times over the life of the
vehicle and storing power for regenerative braking.
Ergenics, a privately held rechargeable battery company, has quietly
developed its outstanding technology working intensively with little fanfare
for the past 3 years.
