Mazda Announces 1998 626 Midsize Sedan Pricing

11 November 1997

Mazda Lowers Prices of Its All-New 1998 626 Midsize Sedan

IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 11 -- Mazda North American Operations
(MNAO) today announced that it has substantially reduced its introductory
manufacturers suggested retail prices (MSRP) on most models of its larger,
more powerful 626 midsize sedan. On a sales-weighted basis, 626 prices have
been reduced an average of $257 (1.6%) when compared with the initial MSRP's
on 1998 vehicles that began arriving in dealerships last month.
Customers who have already purchased the all-new 1998 626 will receive a
check from Mazda for the difference between the 626's introductory MSRP and
the new pricing. Price reductions range from $245 on the best-selling 626 LX
to $755 on the top-of-the-line 626 ES-V6.
"Rather than simply meet our competition head-on in the most hotly
contested segment of the market, we decided to go one better and make the 626
even more affordable," said Richard Beattie, President and CEO of MNAO. "We
also felt it was only right to reimburse our customers who purchased a 1998
626 before pricing had been formally set."
Mazda North American Operations is responsible for the research and
development, sales and marketing, customer parts and service support of Mazda
vehicles in the United States. Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., MNAO has
approximately 850 dealerships nationwide and is owned by Mazda Motor
Corporation, Hiroshima, Japan.
