SPX Corporation Announces Formation of The Enterprise Alliance

    MUSKEGON, Mich., Nov. 4 -- The Enterprise Alliance was
unveiled today at Automotive Industry Week 97 in Las Vegas.  Members of the
Alliance are SPX Corporation , Alldata Corporation, Anderson BDG
Corporation, Hunter Engineering, Reynolds & Reynolds and Vetronix Corporation.
    SPX has joined forces with these visionary companies to develop a
comprehensive set of technical standards for the seamless integration of
computer-based, repair shop products. The Alliance is dedicated to providing
equipment compatible with these standards to create true integration.
    The standards are called PASSPORT(TM) and will be open to all suppliers of
computer-based products and services.  PASSPORT Standards will be published
and available in early 1998.  The Alliance is now developing plans to offer
guidance and support to suppliers wishing to attain compliance and display the
PASSPORT Compatible logo.
    John B. Blystone, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of SPX
Corporation said, "At SPX we have been working diligently to develop universal
service solutions.  The Enterprise Alliance is a major step toward our vision
of open architecture products that truly integrate the entire service facility
from work order, to parts inventory, to invoicing.  I am confident our
customers will equate the Passport approved symbol with user friendly
products, seamless integration, timely and accurate information, and
productivity improvements."
    The Alliance is sponsoring several free workshops to be held throughout
the country for shop owners and retail service provider managers.  To receive

exact date in early 1998 will be announced soon.
