Mustang Museum Movement Gallops into SEMALAS VEGAS, Oct. 21 -- The Mustang Museum committee is coming to Las Vegas and plans on making a big splash at the 1997 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show with a week-long schedule of events. Since the Ford Mustang and SEMA members have shared a long history of servicing the performance enthusiast market, the museum committee officials concluded that a strong presence at this year's show would provide the perfect opportunity to focus national attention on this ambitious project, and to announce the four finalists in the site selection process. "The Mustang Museum Committee is proud to be a participant at this year's SEMA Convention," said John Coletti, vice president, Mustang Museum Inc., "and we have scheduled a number of events so that some of the attendees can become a part of this exciting project." Starting Sunday, November 2, there will be a Mustang Museum cruise when more than 200 Mustang vehicles from local Mustang Clubs will meet at Mustang Sally's Cafe in Henderson, N.V. where the legendary Steve Saleen will lead the caravan to the Hard Rock Cafe in a specially-prepared Saleen Mustang. In the rally, John Coletti will be driving the ground shaking 800 horsepower Ford BOSS Mustang. On Tuesday, November 4, the Mustang Museum Committee will host a private reception for more than 200 automotive industry luminaries and VIP guests at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel. Mr. Keith Crain, Chairman, Crain Communications, Inc. and editorial director of Autoweek and Automotive News, as well as a member of the Museum's Honorary Board of Directors, will be the guest speaker at this event and share his enthusiasm for this important project. At this reception, the Mustang Museum Committee will announce the final four cities that have met the stringent Site-Selection Committee criteria. Representatives from these four cities also will be at the reception to answer audience questions. The Mustang Museum Committee will announce the winning site in April, 1998. Throughout the week of the SEMA Convention, the Mustang Museum Committee will maintain an information booth (#5346) on the convention floor, and all SEMA participants are encouraged to stop by and talk with Committee members about the museum project. The Mustang Museum Inc. Board of Directors are encouraged by the positive response its fund-raising efforts have received. Hundreds of individual and corporate sponsors have allied themselves with the project and are looking forward to the grand opening that is scheduled for the new millennium.
