Comedy-Variety Show to Raise Funds for Locked-Out Newspaper Unions; UAW President Stephen P. Yokich Honorary Chairman of the Evening

    DETROIT, Oct. 17 -- A family oriented comedy-variety show,
sponsored by the Metropolitan Council of Newspaper Unions, is set for Friday,
October 24, to raise money for the six newspaper unions in the ongoing labor
dispute with the News, Free Press and Detroit Newspapers.  The show, called
"Movers & Shakers No. VIII," will be held at Schaublin Auditorium of Lakeview
High School, 11 Mile & Little Mack, in St. Clair Shores.  Doors open at
7 p.m.; the show starts at 7:30 p.m.
    The Fabulous Do-Wops, a '50s-'60s style ensemble that combines comedy,
songs and skits, will head the show.  Deborah Frontczak, who has performed
with the Michigan Opera Theatre and the Grosse Pointe Theater, will make a
special guest appearance.  The 2 1/2-hour show will also feature several award
winning song and dance groups.
    "Movers & Shakers No. VIII" is produced by Mary Hill of Hill Productions
with some talent supplied by Anita's Theatre Dance & Performing Arts of
Sterling Heights.  Each year Ms. Hill produces a show to benefit a worthy
cause.  Over the years, her productions have become a popular local event.
