Automotive Hall of Fame's Annual Induction and Awards Night At the Detroit Westin, October 14

    DEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 1 -- Tickets are still available for
the Automotive Hall of Fame's Annual Induction and Awards Night at the Detroit
Westin, October 14, when it will induct nine automotive pioneers and leaders
and honor three young industry achievers.
    The Hall of Fame inductees will include Robert B. McCurry, a former
Chrysler Corporation and Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc. marketing executive;
Dr. Genichi Taguchi, known worldwide as the "father of quality engineering";
William A. Raftery, longtime President of the Motor and Equipment
Manufacturers Association, and Joseph R. Degnan, credited with improving
supplier relationships and the quality of all National Automotive Parts
Associations marketing programs.
    Also, John F. Dodge, who established the Dodge Brothers Machine Shop with
his brother to make auto parts for, among others, Ransom Olds and Henry Ford;
Raymond Loewy, who made his mark in the auto industry first with Hupmobile,
then with the famous Studebakers of the 1940s and 1950s, and the White
brothers-Rollin, Walter and Windsor-who produced the famed White trucks until
the 1990s.
    Three honorees will receive the Hall of Fame's Young Leadership and
Excellence Award: James Bonini, Director of the Chrysler-BMW Joint Venture
Engine Plant; Greg Penske, President of Penske Automotive Group, Inc. and
President and Chief Executive Officer of the California Speedway, and Carol B.
Yancey, Corporate Secretary, Genuine Parts Company.
    The Hall of Fame's Induction and Awards Night will begin with a reception
at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. in the Westin's Renaissance Ballroom.
