Nissan Division August Sales up 12.9 Percent Over Prior Month
CARSON, Calif., Sept. 3 -- The Nissan Division of Nissan
Motor Corporation U.S.A.(NMC) posted August sales of 63,210 units, up 12.9
percent over July. Calendar year-to-date sales for Nissan Division totaled
476,408 units, an increase of 1.4 percent versus last year.
The Nissan Maxima posted sales of 13,236 units, up 24.4 percent versus
last month. The Nissan Altima turned in sales of 10,247 units, lead by the
introduction of the redesigned 1998 model. The Nissan Sentra reported sales
of 12,317 units, up 4.1 percent over July. Total sedan sales for August were
35,800 units for the month, up 8.5 percent over last month.
With August sales of 3,487, the Nissan 200SX is up 82.3 percent over last
month.
Nissan Pathfinder, Quest and Truck reported sales of 7,388 (up 22.6
percent), 3,417 (up 12.6 percent) and 12,743 (up 9.2 percent), respectively,
over last month. Combined August sales of the Truck, Pathfinder and Quest
were 23,548 units, up 13.6 percent over last month. Calendar year-to-date
sales for Truck, Pathfinder and Quest were 169,456 units, a 5.3 percent
increase versus the comparable period last year.
Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles for August totaled
42,212, which represents 66.8 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in the
United States. Total NMC sales for August, including Nissan and Infiniti
Divisions, were 69,171 units, up 10 percent over last month. Combined year-
to-date sales for Nissan and Infiniti Divisions were 519,476.
Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A., which includes the Infiniti luxury
division, markets and distributes Nissan and Infiniti vehicles in the United
States to more than 1,200 dealers.
