Speedway Motorsports' Texas Motor Speedway -- Busy, Busy, Busy

CONCORD, N.C., Sept. 3 -- Speedway Motorsports' Texas Motor
Speedway is busy, busy, busy.
The Rolling Stones recently announced that their "Bridges of Babylon"
World Tour will hit Texas Motor Speedway on November 1, 1997. The concert
will serve as the exclamation point to Texas Motor Speedway's "Inaugural
Season of Speed," which saw the Fort Worth facility open for its first season
with racing from the NASCAR Winston Cup series, the Indy Racing League, the
NASCAR Busch series, and the NASCAR Craftsman truck series. The speedway also
hosted what was billed by Warner-Avalon as the "Biggest Two Music Events Ever"
-- Fruit of the Loom CountryFest '97 and Blockbuster RockFest '97.
Texas Motor Speedways' tentative 1998 schedule includes NASCAR Winston Cup
series and Busch Grand National series racing on April 4 - 5, Indy Racing
League and Craftsman truck series racing on June 5 - 6, AutoFest featuring
Pate Swap meet April 30 - May 3 and Oct. 29 - Nov. 1. The speedway is also
planning a return of the Thursday Night Stampede Legends car series.
Despite hosting all these events officials at Texas Motor Speedway are
still not satisfied and continuously seek additional event opportunities.
"We estimate a full schedule of events in 1998," stated Eddie Gossage,
Texas Motor Speedway general manager. "We are pursuing the scheduling of
concerts and other events similar to those in 1997. Fast Track Driving School
is on the calendar for 1998 and Richard Petty Driving Experience will be soon.
We recognize that in order to increase the return on investment at Texas Motor
Speedway, we need to host more events. To that end, this speedway will be
used almost everyday in 1998."
