Honda Responds to Republic's Plans For Publicity Event

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 20 -- Daniel M. Petrocelli, lead counsel
for American Honda Motor Co., Inc., in its lawsuit against Republic
Industries, had the following comment regarding Republic Industries plans to
hold a publicity event regarding Honda's lawsuit against Republic:
"This staged publicity stunt, bankrolled by Republic Industries, may be an
indication of Republic's concern about the merits of their case in Federal
court. We have complete confidence in the Federal court system and strongly
believe this care should be settled in the courtroom and not the press room."
Mr. Petrocelli is one of the premier trial lawyers in the country, best
known for his representation of the Goldman family in the Simpson wrongful
death civil case. His firm of Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp is one of the most
established and respected in Los Angeles and specializes in unfair competition
and business law.
