Industry Executives Discuss Intelligent Transportation at the 1997 SAE Truck & Bus Event

    WARRENDALE, Pa., Aug. 20 -- Intelligent Transportation is the
topic of two panel discussions at the 1997 SAE Truck & Bus Meeting &
Exposition, November 17-19, at the Cleveland Convention Center, Cleveland,
Ohio, USA.
    The Chief Engineers' Panel, set for Tuesday, November 18, will address
current and future intelligent transportation systems and vehicles, and the
benefits that the "intelligence" will provide.  Panelists will also state
their opinions regarding when intelligent vehicles will appear on the market.
    Richard C. Kempf, Manager of Technical Legislation, Navistar International
Legislation Corp., is organizer, and Richard L. Malecki, Director, Medium
Truck and Bus Engineering, Navistar International Transportation Corp., is
moderator of the panel.  Panelists include: A.G. Pizzimenti, Executive
Engineer, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Truck Platform, Chrysler
Corporation; Dennis Langervik, V.P., Product Development, Volvo Trucks North
America; Jack Gemender, Manager, Electrical/Electronics Systems Development,
Navistar International Transportation Corp.; Vern A. Caron, Manager,
Engineering and Product Planning, Eaton Corporation, Axle and Brake Division,
Advanced Chassis Control Systems; Gene Bergoffen, V.P., Transportation
Enterprise Systems, Commercial Vehicle Operations, TransCore.
    The Blue Ribbon Panel will take place Wednesday, November 19.  The theme
is, "Shared Vision: Intelligent Transportation for the 21st Century."
Panelists will discuss that intelligent transportation is a promise of the
future.  James D. Donaldson, Ford Motor Company, is organizer and moderator
for the panel.  Panelists include: Doug Condra, V.P., Publishing and Editorial
Director, Newport Communications; Gary Diaz, Group V.P., and Chief Technical
Officer, Navistar International Transportation Corp.; Tim Leuliette, President
and CEO, Penske Corporation; Joe Magliochette, President, Dana Corporation;
Bernard Robertson, V.P., Engineering Technologies and General Manager,
Jeep/Truck Chrysler Technical Center Operations, and Barry Langridge,
Executive Vice President, Industrial Operations.
