AutoZone Comfortable With Analyst Estimates For 4th Quarter

    MEMPHIS, Tenn., Aug. 15 -- Johnston C. Adams Jr., chairman
and chief executive officer of AutoZone Inc. , said he is
comfortable with Wall Street estimates for AutoZone earnings in its fiscal
fourth quarter ending August 30, 1997.  He made the comments in a meeting
today with analysts in Memphis.
