Lexus Retakes Lead in Customer Satisfaction, Tops J.D. Power CSI Study Six of Seven Years Eligible

TORRANCE, Calif., July 16 -- J.D. Power and Associates
announced today that Lexus ranked as the Number One Car and Truck Line in its
1997 Customer Satisfaction Index Study (CSI), the sixth time Lexus has gained
a top ranking in the seven years the brand has been eligible.
Lexus improved from 1996 to regain the lead with a score of 174, a margin
of 33 points above the auto industry average. The J.D. Power study measures
new vehicle customer satisfaction with the way they are treated at the
dealership and with reliability and service of their vehicle during the first
year of ownership.
In addition to this year's latest customer satisfaction results, Lexus has
received four other accolades from customers as measured by J.D. Power and
Associates. These include the most Appealing Premium Luxury car (LS 400),
Number One Nameplate for Overall Dependability after 5 years, Number One
Premium Luxury Car for Initial Quality (LS 400) and Number One Full-Sized
Sport Utility for Initial Quality (LX 450). Since introducing its first model
in 1989, Lexus has ranked at the top in 30 of the 40 major J.D. Power and
Associates Surveys for which the brand has been eligible.
