Robert Bosch Corp. Forms New North American Subsidiary

BROADVIEW, Ill., May 6 -- Robert Bosch Corp. today announced
it has established ETAS, Inc., a newly formed North American subsidiary
located in Ann Arbor, Mich. ETAS, Inc. will supply Engineering Tools &
Application Services for automotive embedded control systems, such as engine
control modules and antilock brake system controllers, based on hardware and
software products developed by ETAS GmbH, located near Stuttgart, Germany.
Manfred W. Schon, most recently marketing manager of DSP Technology, Inc.,
Ann Arbor, Mich., was appointed president of ETAS, Inc. Prior to that, Schon
was engineering manager for AVL North America, Inc., in Novi, Mich. ETAS,
Inc. currently employs eight people in its new U.S. office.
ETAS products and services cover the complete development process for
automotive embedded control systems. The company's Advanced Simulation and
Control Engineering (ASCET-SD) tool supports every step of the software
development process with a new approach to modeling, code generation and
simulation, thus making higher quality, shorter innovation cycles and cost
reduction a reality.
Once the software functionality has been developed, the ETAS
hardware-in-the-loop test system, LabCar, can simulate the complete vehicle or
its components in real-time and test the connected embedded control system.
To complete the chain of tools, ETAS supports the in-vehicle data
acquisition and calibration process with its Integrated Calibration and
Application Tool (INCA), a modular hardware and software package which can be
configured to address various customer requirements.
Established in 1994, ETAS GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Robert
Bosch GmbH, and employs approximately 140 people.
Robert Bosch Corporation, the wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of Robert Bosch
GmbH, manufactures and markets high quality, high technology precision
original equipment components/systems for passenger cars and commercial
vehicles, automotive aftermarket parts and accessories, workshop/test
equipment, car audio systems, packaging machinery, industrial automation
components and systems, metal deburring-, finishing-, and aqueous washing
systems, industrial electronic controls, hydraulic and pneumatic components
and systems, as well as household appliances.
EDITOR'S NOTE: ETAS, Inc., is located at 2155 Jackson Ave., Ann Arbor,
MI, 48103, phone 313-997-9393, Fax 313-997-9449.
ASCET provides the function development environment for electronic control
units, database and library management, block diagram editor, state machine
editor, experimentation environment with off-line mode on host system and
generation for floating point and fixed point arithmetic, documentation
generator, and sample libraries.
INCA enables the adaptation and optimization of electronic control unit
(ECU) parameters using memory emulators or serial ECU interfaces, the checking
and testing of optimized ECU functions with comprehensive ECU and vehicle
measuring technology, standard documentation and evaluation of achieved
results in post-processing programs, and project administration as well as
distributed processing in teams.
