Volvo Announces Value Award for 850 GLT

    ROCKLEIGH, N.J., Feb. 5 -- The Volvo 850 GLT sedan and wagon
have an addition to make to its trophy case:  the 1997 Intellichoice Best
Overall Value of the Year Award.
    The 850 GLT models received honors in the Near Luxury class, after
Intellichoice reviewed its cost of ownership relative to purchase price.
    "Our customers are intelligent people who make educated decisions,"
explains Helge Alten, President and CEO of Volvo Cars of North America, Inc.
"We offer them value, not to mention safety, quality and luxury, because that
is what they expect -- and deserve."
    Since its introduction in 1991, the Volvo 850 has received many awards
from a variety of organizations including Consumers Digest, the Highway Loss
Data Institute, the New York Times syndicate Car and Driver, Kiplinger's
Financial Magazine, and Motorweek.
