Audi A8 Receives 1997 MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Award for Best Dream Machine

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Feb. 5 -- Audi of America, Inc.
announced that its A8 premium luxury sedan has won the 1997 MotorWeek Drivers'
Choice Award for Best Dream Machine.
    MotorWeek is television's original automotive magazine and is a national
production of Maryland Public Television.  The A8 is Audi's luxury flagship
which employs a first-of-its-kind aluminum space frame body technology that
delivers extraordinary weight savings with best-in-class safety, performance
and luxury features.
    The MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Awards are based on a compilation of
criteria such as product integrity, performance, pricing, value and purpose.
MotorWeek presents these awards to acknowledge the industry's outstanding
automotive product and design for the model year.  More than 150 vehicles are
evaluated each year to enable the MotorWeek staff to select the benchmark in
each class.
    Available in two V8 versions, a 3.7 front-wheel drive and 4.2 quattro all-
wheel drive, the A8 is the first vehicle in the world to come equipped with
six airbags, including side airbags for both front and rear outboard
occupants.  It has been on sale in the United States since October and helped
contribute to Audi's best sales year in the U.S. since 1987.
